A: Roseshipping is the name for the couple Pegasus x Cynthia/Cecelia from the anime/manga Yuugiou, it's also the only offical couple of it.
Q: Why is this couple named Roseshipping?
A: I wasn't the one who gave this name for this pairing so this is just a theory. I beleive it's not named Roseshipping because Cynthia gets "eaten" by the rose and such, I guess it has to do with the symbolism of the rose itself. I read in a book that (red) roses are the symbol of everlasting love, love that lasts even after death. You see, Pegasus loved her very much even after she died, so I guess this is where the name comes from.
And this couple has other names like too. Like PegCyn or PegaShin...Well, these are what I've seen so far.
Q: What's the story of this couple?
A: I guess most people know, but some doesn't, so I'll write it down and tell it. It might more likely sound like an episode guide or something, but peh.
WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!
Based on the manga.
Fourteen years ago, when Pegasus was ten, his father -a capitalist who owned all the casinos in Las Vegas- always took his hand and went to social events. On one of these events, Pegasus met his father's friend, who was also a capitalist. He had a daughter who was called Cynthia. The two fell in love at first sight. They always spent their times together and they told each other their dreams. Pegasus was a talented artist, and loved to paint pictures of his lover. They also vowed to be together for eternity. (They did NOT marry, that's the American version.) Unfortunately, shortly after Pegasus's 17th birthday, Cynthia died because of some kind of sickness. (She was also 17 at that time.) Pegasus fell into depression, unable to accept her death.
"My heart was like a blank canvas...", he said.
Months later, he became interested in the afterlife of Egypt, thinking that he might find her there, so he went to Egypt. At the Valley of the Kings, in a graverobber village, he met a mysterious man (Shadi). He was told to leave this place - he won't find anything here to heal his pain. However, Pegasus cared a lot about what the man had said, so he followed him...into an underground temple. At there, he had seen something he shouldn't, and he was caught. He was told that he can't leave unless he was chosen, and he had to take a Sennen Item's test. Shadi picked up the Sennen Eye from the Pharaoh's Memory Tablet, and told him that the Eye will grant him a wish.
"Yes! The door of the dead will open, and you'll be able to see the one who you love, again!"
When Pegasus heard that, he knew what would that mean. He thought he could see Cynthia again, so he took the test. His left eye was gouged out, and the Sennen Eye took its place.
He screamed in pain. Then light filled the room, and a door appeared in the front of him. It was the image he wanted...
...His Cynthia!
He held her in her arms, but sadly, that was only a short reunion. She disappeared, and Pegasus was left there...alone...without her.
Pegasus left the underground room. He accepted the bitter truth, and the Sennen Eye. However, the Sennen Eye had a previous owner in the past, the Priest Akunadin. Pegasus has changed from this moment, as he was more likely controlled by this ancient item. (Okay, maybe not, but when he was looking for the Egyptian Gods, he was certainly not himself…) He found stone tablets of monsters, which were summoned by the Priests and the Pharaoh in the past. He was inspired… And he made the card game, Duel Monsters, which became popular. He did a few modifications, however, he added new monsters, for example.
His own company, Industrial Illusions manufactured the cards. He was the President of his company. He even became richer than before! He became a successful, rich gentleman.
Pegasus went on a journey around the world to find ideas about new monsters to add. He even traveled to the Orient, where he found about the Spirit Monsters.
However, he wanted to find the three strongest monsters of this game – The Egyptian Gods! They were Obelisk, Osiris, and Ra. He looked everywhere, but he didn’t find the answer. Later, Shadi appeared in front of him again, and led him to another underground room in Egypt. This one was guarded, but Shadi hid Pegasus and his men from them. In the deepest part of this room was the Pharaoh’s Memory Tablet - With the three Gods on it, as well as High Priest Seto and Pharaoh Atemu. His men recorded this discovery, then they left. Shadi knew Pegasus was destined to bring the Gods’ power to life, but he wasn’t sure if he was destined to control them. All his men were attacked by the Gods and they were killed. Pegasus’s most important servant, Croquet asked him if he wants to continue with resurrecting the Gods. Pegasus said yes.
Pegasus painted all the three Gods, but then, he fell asleep. In his dream, he saw a burning city, and the three Gods! Shadi was in his dream as well. He told Pegasus he isn’t destined to control the Gods. Pegasus said he can control them. Then the Gods attacked him.
Pegasus woke up from his dream – he felt the Gods’ rage! He decided to seal the three God Cards in the Valley of Kings, when he met Ishizu Ishtar. He gave her the three cards to take care of them. Unfortunately, later the cards were stolen... (With the exception of Obelisk.)
It’s been seven years since Duel Monsters started. During this time, Pegasus, and the CEO of Kaiba Corp, Kaiba Seto (who also played the game), created the Solid Vision system, which was used to display the holographic versions of the Duel Monsters cards. Pegasus wanted to get his hands on Kaiba Corp…to use its technology…To see his love, again!
One day, Kaiba Seto (Who was the World Champion by now) was beaten by a boy named Yuugi Mutou. Kaiba left to find out why Yuugi has beaten him. (During this time, he made the prototype of the Duel Disk.) When Kaiba left, the company has weakened among other companies. Pegasus saw that this was the right time to take over Kaiba Corp! He made a deal with the Big Five, who shared 60% with Kaiba Corp. If Pegasus gets rid of Kaiba and beats Yuugi Mutou, he’ll be made the new CEO of Kaiba Corp, and the company’s technology shall be his! As he said, he wasn’t afraid of Yuugi, because he’s unbeaten at Duel Monsters! (Thanks to his Sennen Eye, which he can use to check what cards does the opponent have, also, what are they planning to do.)
Pegasus needed a way to lure Yuugi to himself, so they can duel. He had a private island in the south of Japan, which was called Duelist Kingdom. He was planning to start a tournament there.
In Japan was the National Championship, which was won by Insector Haga. Pegasus personally gave him the trophy and told him to come to Duelist Kingdom.
Yuugi and his friends at home have been watching the championship. During this time, Yuugi received a package. It contained a video tape, also a Duelist Glove and Star chips. They were needed to enter the Duelist Kingdom tournament.
Yuugi put in the video tape…however, it was a trap! Across the tape, Pegasus started a Yami no Game (Dark Game) with Yuugi, with Duel Monster cards, of course. Pegasus won the game, and as a penalty, he took Yuugi’s grandpa’s, Sogoroku’s soul. He told Yuugi to come to Duelist Kingdom if he wants to save his grandpa. The next target was Kaiba… He sent out his men to kidnap Kaiba’s little brother, Mokuba, so his brother would come for him…
Meantime, the Duelist Kingdom tournament has started. The participants, including Yuugi, have arrived as well. Yuugi divided his star chips with his friend, Jyounouchi, and they started to make their way to Pegasus!
Pegasus watched the tournament from his castle. He was waiting for Yuugi…While reading his favorite Funny Rabbit comic book and sipping wine.
Later, Kaiba was spotted on the island. Pegasus‘s men almost caught him, but he escaped. But his deck was stolen.
This is when Yuugi dueled a guy who mimicked Kaiba, pretending it was him...I mean, Kaiba’s ghost, since, according to him, the original Kaiba was dead. But with the help of the real Kaiba, the fake Kaiba was beaten, and Yuugi claimed Kaiba’s deck. (Which he gave back to him later.)
Kaiba found out that Pegasus had captured Mokuba, so he was making his way to Pegasus as well…However, he was late! Pegasus already locked Mokuba’s soul in a Soul Prison Card.
Days have passed. Yuugi and Jyounouchi have fought many opponents, like Haga, Kajiki, Ryuuzaki, Mai, Player Killer, Mei and Kyuu…But one of the toughest battles have come. Kaiba. He was waiting for Yuugi to duel with. Yuugi had no choice, and so they dueled. Yuugi would’ve won, but Kaiba intended to fall off the edge of the castle if he loses. (He also wanted five Star chips, because he had a conservation with Pegasus earlier, where Pegasus gave him five Star chips. And you know, you need ten to enter the castle.) Yuugi didn’t attack the weakened Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, and so he lost… After he won the duel, Kaiba made his way into the castle…Where he wanted to duel Pegasus, right there, right away… Of course, he did.
Yuugi was broken because he lost. But Mai gave Yuugi some Star chips so all of them had ten. Now, they should be able to enter the castle… And they entered.
Meanwhile, the duel between Pegasus and Kaiba has started…
Kaiba told Pegasus to release Mokuba. Pegasus agreed – but if Kaiba loses, his soul will be taken as well!
And the duel has started! Pegasus read Kaiba’s mind every time – he was one step ahead him! In addition, he even played cards that no one has! Including a card that can open a world of Toons – Toon World! A card that represents Pegasus’s other side – the funny, childish one. With his cuddly creatures and his Mind Scan ability, Pegasus has easily beaten Kaiba.
And Kaiba’s soul were taken as well…
After Pegasus dealt with Kaiba, the semifinalists were having dinner in the Great Dinning Room. They were Keith, Jyounouchi, Yuugi, and Mai. Above the doors of this room were two portraits – Shadi’s and Cynthia’s…
A while later – the semifinal duels were sorted – Yuugi vs. Mai and Jounouchi vs. Keith.
Actually, there was a reason Keith has come to Duelist Kingdom. At a time, he was the Intercontinental Champion, but Pegasus beat him! Now, he’s back for revenge! Will his cheating skills make him reach Pegasus? Not really, because Pegasus will eliminate him when Keith tries to shoot Pegasus in the head… Pegasus, turning Keith’s hand into a gun, makes Keith shoot himself. (This happens after Jyounouchi has beaten Keith.)
The gang looks at the portraits. Croquet tells them that they were painted by Pegasus himself – but he never said anything about them.
Yuugi recognizes Shadi – but they all look at the portrait of Cynthia. Who could she be?
...
The semifinals are over – the Finalist was Yuugi Motou. Now the time has come to duel with Pegasus… Pegasus tells Yuugi – if he loses, his soul will be his! However, if he wins, then he’ll release the souls.
…And the Duel has started! Yuugi fights for the Kaiba brothers and Sogoroku, Pegasus fights for the chance to see Cynthia again. It’s a tough battle, they are fighting from the deepest of their hearts. Pegasus has mastered his Sennen Item, while Yuugi still doesn’t know the power of the Sennen Puzzle! Not too long after the duel has begun, Pegasus unleashes the magic of Toon World once more! He turns his normal monsters into Toons, and with his Magic Card, Mimicat, he even copies Yuugi's Demon no Shokan, turning it into a Toon. He also plays a Trap Card, Gorgon’s Eye, which turns every Defense-position Monster into stone! And since Toons can be destroyed by Toons only, Yuugi's indeed in trouble. Perhaps Pegasus’s loyalty and love for Cynthia will make him reach his goal?
Just in time, Yuugi finds a way how to counter Pegasus’s Mind Scan ability… He switches with his Yami so Pegasus can’t read their mind! What little Yuugi has seen, Yami no Yuugi hasn’t seen. Yuugi has discovered the power of his Puzzle – Mind Shuffle! And now, Pegasus has to use his dueling skills and courage to duel Yuugi – but by using the Sennen Eye all the time, he has lost his courage and his dueling skills. Yuugi manages to destroy Toon World, and Pegasus throws a tantrum. But then, things go serious – Once more, Pegasus starts playing a Yami no Game. In this game, it costs Yuugi his life energy to maintain Mind Shuffle. Later, Pegasus will summon Dark Eyes Illusionist, which he’ll sacrifice to the Magic Card, Black Illusion Ritual to summon the other card that represents his personality –his lonely and empty self- … Sacrifice. A Monster that can absorb other Monsters to gain power. With this method he absorbs Yuugi's Black Magician and eliminates the Little Yuugi, who was weak in the Dark Game, anyway. But before he’s gone, Yuugi sets a card…That will defeat Pegasus… At this point, Yami no Yuugi takes over and continues the duel. Pegasus summons Time Bomber, and attempts to bring Yami no Yuugi's LP down to 0 by the effect of this Monster in just three turns… Yami no Yuugi is all alone in the Dark Game. With little Yuugi gone, his mind can be read by Pegasus, again…Well, not really. Outside the Dark Game, Yuugi's friends hold on for little Yuugi. The power of their friendship blocks Pegasus’s Mind Scan. Using a combo of Mystic Box of Death and Brain Control, Yami no Yuugi frees Black Magician and takes control of Sacrifice with Time Bomber in it. Yami no Yuugi flips up Yuugi's last card – Black Chaos ritual! Yami no Yuugi sacrifices Time Bomber and Black Magician to summon the best magician – Black Chaos Magician! Pegasus gets back Sacrifice at his turn, and with the Fusion with Wicked God of Thousand Eyes, he summons a newer Monster… Thousand-Eyes Sacrifice. It can block any opponent Monster’s attack… Pegasus attempts absorbing Black Chaos Magician as well! Also, he’s quite nervous at this point. But this Fusion will make Pegasus lose the game! Yami no Yuugi uses a combo of Multiply and Kuriboh to make the Thousand-Eyes Sacrifice blind…Yami no Yuugi attacks with Black Chaos Magician and wins!
Pegasus falls on his knees. He has lost. He couldn’t meet the requirements of the deal with the Big Five… He also has to release the souls he has taken… The Dark Game has ended…
But when Yuugi regained his consciousness, Pegasus was gone!
Pegasus, after losing to Yuugi, was broken...again.
He has lost. Even though he has read many human hearts, he has never seen a heart with two personalities.
“Is this the power of the Sennen Puzzle?” He asked to himself.
And then, he released the souls. Kaiba, Mokuba, and Sogoroku have come back to life. Yami no Yuugi asked where did Pegasus get his Sennen Item. He takes out a card of Cynthia and tells him his story.
After he was done, the others left to check out the Kaiba brothers. While sitting there, Yami no Bakura sneaked up behind him, and took the Sennen Eye. Pegasus's eye socket was bleeding...And then, he was left there...all alone...all empty...dead.
(Actually, Pegasus died in the manga only...to be exact, it is not exactly known if he was indeed killed or not. In the Yuugiou R manga, they say about him that he had "disappeared"...)
Meh, that was a long answer! I'm sorry that I didn't really focus on Pegasus's life exactly, but I had to tell some stuff that's not completely releated to him in order to tell his story.
I took most of the text from a Powerpoint Presentation which I made, I wrote Pegasus's biography in it. Sorry, but it was much more simple this way...
Q: Why isn't Roseshipping mentioned oftenly?
A: I beleive it's because they were shown together in only one episode. Although there were hints in Episode 28 and Episode 34 (American version only)...Also, many people find shonen-ai and shojo-ai couples more interesting than hetero ones...I might be wrong, though. Or maybe people just don't care about this couple as much... Roseshipping certainly needs more love!
Q: Did Pegasus and Cynthia really marry? (Reminded by ~acenaspheru )
A: Well, to be exact...No. That's the American dub only.
I guess many people think they got married because of that scene in the animé. Well, let me point out a few things WHY ISN'T that scene a marriage.
-- They're not wearing wedding clothes.
-- The priest isn't standing there.
-- No one is in the church either, except them.
-- Why would a rose pop up and take Cynthia "for real" in the middle of such a scene anyway?
So I guess it's an engagement.
Although I have NO idea why do they do it in a church...? Pegasus is so "uncreative!"
The other reason they couldn't have gotten married is because they were too young. In the US, you can't get married until you're 21 because of the law, and not even parental permission would allow. They were only 17. (Although Cynthia didn't live for too long after Pegasus's 17th birthday
Pegasus never exactly said that they're getting married. He only said:
"We vowed to be together for eternity..."
Now, this could be just a vow. Or it could refer to the engagement. I doubt it refers to the marriage (and the engagement as well, actually
He never referred to her as his "wife", he referred to her as "koibito" (lover in Japanese. In the original Episode 40, he even says in the beginning of the flashback "...Watashi no koibito desu." Which means "She is my lover."
In Yuugiou-R, in the flashback of "Round 2" aka Manga Episode 2, Pegasus is talking with his *SPOILER* adopted child *SPOILER END*, Tenma Yakou. He said he'll meet with his fiancée, Cynthia. Fiancée, not wife. I know YGO-R isn't "that offical", (because it's not Takahashi's work) but still, they really can't say fake info in it.
So again, your head won't be bitten off if you say they're married or you refer to Cynthia as Pegasus's wife. Just liked to point it out...
Q: Did they ever do...that?
A: I know I know, why do I refer to that certain thing as that?
...Or maybe you could ask how did I bring it up.
I don't think they really did it. My reasons:
--They were young. Sure, I know some teenagers do it nowadays when they're 14 or 15 (or earlier or later, doh...) but I still don't think they did it. Let's look over what did Pegasus say:
"Shortly after my seventeenth birthday, my beloved Cynthia died of a sickness..."
"She died when she was seventeen..."
So let's put that together. Cynthia was already 17 when Pegasus had his 17th birthday...Which makes you think if she's older than him. I guess it would be MAXIMUM a month or two if she's indeed older...
They didn't get to spend their 7th year together for too long, since Cynthia died. Anyway, we don't even know when did Cynthia started feeling too unwell, or being already sick. I mean, why would Pegasus want her to do it if she was really weak from her illness?
I don't think Pegasus was a sex-maniac or a pervert. I mean, he probably didn't want to get her in bed as soon as possible... ... ... X_X
...So that was my opinion. But of course, we might never know. Perhaps they did it. Or not. Who knows...
Q: Who asks these questions???
A: The founder...
Q: Cyndia or Cynthia?
A: I know it can be Cyndia because her name in katakana (シンデイア
Q: Why don't I, ~YamiZoe , upload my fanart here?
A: Because I don't want to see my art here - I don't wanna self advertise or anything. I don't want to make the club look like filled withmy own art. It'd look wrong to me. I want to see YOUR art. YOUR fanfic.

Q: I have a question! I'm not sure if it's fanon or not...is it true that Pegasus' mom was 'British' (like me?) Because that's the explanation for his cool voice actor and odd accent... -By ~FloweringWolfsbane
A: I don't think there's any connection between the voice and the character's nationality. For example, Jyounouchi has a Brooklyn accent, but he's from Japan (In the original, duh) Same with Pegasus. His accent has no connection with his nationality. He was born in USA. He lives in USA. Plus, we know nothing about his mother. Nothing at all.
Q:Is it true that he wanted to use the M. Items to bring her back to life? -By ~acenaspheru
That's the American version only. In the original, he wanted to take over Kaiba Corp to get a lifelike hologram of her...a hologram. No mystic mumbo jumbo.

Who calls Jyounouchi Joseph? Pegasus? O.o Actually, I don't really like those fanfics where they say that Jyou is Pegasus's and Cynthia's kid.
Actually, I saw a lot of PegCyn fanfics on FF.net, but in many of them the storyline is either a bit weird, or Pegasus suicudes himself. o.o (I've read about SO MANY ways of Pegasus killing himself...
And of course, I'm here to spead the love about Pegasus x Cynthia! :3 And all of you who have joined the club so far!
BTW, icons in your signature won't work, change it to : dev roseshipping : and : dev original-fictions : (Without the spaces)

LOL no Sigfried called Joey Joseph. Though it was less offencive than when the judge man did. OHHHH I wanted to reach in and kill the judge man.
ROFLMAO I actually saw one once that said MAI was their daughter! the auther also thought mai was only sixteen. which is still impossible.
LOL when i first saw ygo i though mai was yugi's sister or something.
the grand perix is in every saturday now and they're screwing with it as much or more. T_T grandpa went nuts over being back near the duling action instead of the acrobat lady! i was so mad, that is so funny watching him go all heart eyed and stuff. ~_~ grandpa, a grown man, can't have a crush on a womanbecause she's forty years younger than him but rebecca who's supposed to be eight can throw herself all over yugi at any given moment? if it wasn't for the fact that i haven't seen the egyptian arc yet i wouldn't be watching.
LOL i'll try to remember details when i write my sequel. i've got it started but i'm not sure where it's going yet.
